Pssttt. save this for later!!
Creating this cutting board wall was seriously so easy! First, I measured how high I wanted the top rail to go. I actually took a few photos of me holding it at different heights so I could figure out what looked best. Once I decided, I used a pencil to mark where the screws would go.
I started by installing the top rail first. After that was up, I hung a few cutting boards to help visualize the spacing and figure out where the bottom rail should go.
Then I grabbed my Ryobi drill and made pilot holes. Since I wanted the rails to hold a good amount of weight, I used drywall anchors for extra strength. (Tip: your pilot holes should be just slightly smaller than the anchor so they fit snug!) Once the anchors were in, I screwed the IKEA rail into place—and just like that, I was more than halfway done!
I used twine to hang the cutting boards and it’s held up great. I recommend using a thicker twine to prevent it from snapping over time. Before installing the bottom rail, I hung a few more boards to get the spacing just right, then repeated the same install process for the second rail.
And voilà—you’ve got yourself a cutting board wall! I added a little extra charm with a wreath and a hanging net bag, and I love how it all came together!
