Details:
To get started, I made sure I was in a well-ventilated area. I put down some cardboard down so I wasn’t spray painting all of the grass. Tip: black grapevine wreath is a thing, but they’re usually more expensive. I already had black spray paint on hand, so it just made more sense (and saved a few bucks!) to paint mine. After giving it a good coat, I set it aside to dry.
While the wreath dries, I started assembling the little ghost for the center.
I picked up a large hanging ghost and some Styrofoam balls from Dollar Tree. To make the mini ghost, I simply cut a small piece from the bottom of the big ghost’s fabric—no special shaping or anything fancy—it naturally drapes really nicely! First, I placed a small square of fabric over the Styrofoam ball as a base layer to prevent snagging, then added the larger drapey piece over the top.
Once the ghost was draped, it was time for the eyes! I cut little ovals out of black adhesive sheets (you could also use felt or paper), and I love how they turned out. The adhesive made things super simple—no glue mess. Then I cut a piece of thin wire, poked one end into the top of the ghost’s head, and secured the other end into the grapevine wreath—kind of like hanging an ornament.
That’s the main part done—yay! 🎉 Now for the fun extras: I found the cutest little bats at Dollar Tree (they already had clips on them!) and just clipped four of them around the wreath. To finish it off, I wrapped some fairy lights around the whole thing. I used silver wire lights I already had, but I linked black-wire fairy lights with orange bulbs above—they’re under $10 for a pack of 12 and would make this wreath look even more like the Pottery Barn version!
